Q-C-Let us know!

To date, the most accurate QCL sensors operate using high power input, operate in low temperatures, or both. For the goal of creating autonomous, widespread sensor networks, the system must operate at room temperature (or close to room temperature) with low power input. Currently, efforts are being made to improve laser output by modifying fabrication and packaging, developing the design of the active regions, using high quality wafers, and developing low loss waveguides. To improve the accuracy of detectors, techniques such as QEPAS (Quartz Enhanced PhotoAcoustic Spectroscopy) and the use of nonlinear optics allow the detectors to pick up a cleaner signal.

It is now that we would like all those involved to provide input on the techniques discussed above. How else is MIRTHE working to meet the final goal of a low-power, accurate, room-temperature-operational QCL detection system? Which areas show the most promise?
